KIOSK

Over the past decade mobile technologies has made a significant leap forward. Print media began to loose it’s relevance, remaining a niche for people who have difficulties mastering digital devices.

The kiosk is a metaphorical time machine that sends us to the past, where people get news from newspapers, read novels and solve crossword puzzles. With a keen interest, I took a job as a weekend salesman at a newsstand on a commuter train platform and tried to experience the digital paradigm shift  from the other side of the storefront.

In my practice I have used a hidden camera to capture a random moment from a salesman window view and black and white film to emphasize the analogue nature of the origins of printed materials, as well as to give the subjects a sense of timelessness.
